Papanasam also spelt as Pavanasam is a famous picnic spot in Tirunelveli district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It falls under the Ambasamudram Taluk. It is situated 60 km from Tirunelveli.The site is popular with tourists attractions like Thamirabarani River, Agasthiyar Falls, Siva Temple, Papanasam dam and Hydro Electric Power Plant.

Vikramasingapuram and Ambasamudram are the nearby towns. It comes under Tirunelveli District.

It is situated at the bank of Thamirabarani river.

The town is surrounded by green paddy fields. It is well known for Madura coats, a fabric production company. This town is also well known for its schools. There are about 108 herbs available in the Papanasam hill area which not found in other part of the world.

The Nearest tourist attraction is Mancholai Hills.It is located between between elevations ranging from 1,000 to 1,500 Metres, the Manjolai area is set deep within the Western Ghats within the Kalakad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve in the Tirunelveli District. Located on top of the Manimuthar Dam & the Manimuthar Water Falls, the Manjolai area comprises Tea Plantations, Small settlements around the tea plantations; Upper Kodaiyar Dam and a windy view point called Kuthiravetti

The Tea Plantations and the whole of Manjolai Estates are tea operated by The Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation Ltd on Forest Lands leased by the Government of Tamil Nadu. There are 3 Tea Estates within the Manjolai area - Manjolai Estate, Manimutharu Estate & Oothu Estate. The Estates are located on elevations ranging between 2,300 ft. to 4,200 ft.. The estates, road & the settlements in the Manjolai area are managed by The Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation Ltd.

വിക്രമസിംഗപുരം, അംബാസമുദ്രം എന്നിവയാണ് അടുത്തുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങൾ. തിരുനെൽവേലി ജില്ലയുടെ കീഴിലാണ് ഇത് വരുന്നത്.

തമിരബരണി നദിയുടെ തീരത്താണ് ഇത് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്.

ഏറ്റവും അടുത്തുള്ള വിനോദസഞ്ചാര കേന്ദ്രം മഞ്ചോളായ് ഹിൽസ് ആണ്. 1,000 മുതൽ 1,500 മീറ്റർ വരെ ഉയരത്തിൽ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന മഞ്ചോലായ് പ്രദേശം പശ്ചിമഘട്ടത്തിൽ തിരുനെൽവേലി ജില്ലയിലെ കലക്കാട് മുണ്ടന്തുറായ് കടുവ സംരക്ഷണ കേന്ദ്രത്തിനുള്ളിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. മണിമുത്തർ ഡാമിനും മണിമുത്തർ വെള്ളച്ചാട്ടത്തിനും മുകളിൽ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന മഞ്ജോലായ് പ്രദേശത്ത് തേയിലത്തോട്ടങ്ങൾ, തേയിലത്തോട്ടങ്ങൾക്ക് ചുറ്റുമുള്ള ചെറിയ വാസസ്ഥലങ്ങൾ എന്നിവ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു; അപ്പർ കൊടയ്യാർ ഡാമും കുത്തിരവേട്ടി എന്ന കാറ്റുള്ള വ്യൂ പോയിന്റും
